A whisper travels on the breeze, a tale spun from sugary lies and bitter truths. It speaks of a current, its waters glinting with the promise of intoxication. But within its depths lurks a shadow, a seductive lure that promises glory at the cost of innocence. On January 15th, 1919, Boston witnessed a disaster unlike any other. A massive tank filled with that thick sweet nectar burst open in the city's North End, unleashing a wave of sticky sweetness that crashed through the streets like a tsunami. The flood, soaring to 25 feet in some areas, was horrifying. Structures succumbed under the force of the treacherous goo.
The aftermath was tragic. Twenty-one people lost their lives, and many more suffered injuries. The flood also caused extensive damage to property, leaving a trail of sticky residue in its wake.
